An experiential enquiry into non-duality
An experiential enquiry into non-duality
Look at the symphony of life and its majesty, its unlimited potential. It gives you perspective and brings inner peace.
“You are one in eight billion, don't forget the adventure of looking at things from a distance” - DALAI LAMA
Erna pursued a long career in the Fine arts as an Illustrator and in the graphic design industry, also in the academic field as a university lecturer. But her live's journey eventually changed direction and evolved into a rigorous and devotional inquiry into Truth.
Since childhood she acutely experienced the dichotomy of being in this world, but not of it. She found solace by emerging herself in nature, her art, in music and poetry.
Studies in art philosophy and further insights from William Blake, Rumi, Parmenides, Kant, Nietzsche amongst others, inspired a critical mindset of not being fed by the materialist paradigm but to nurture authenticity. A quest to understand humanity's fragmented discourse and endless search for fulfilment, led to a further deep dive into behavioural sciences of the interaction between man and its environment. A corollary inquiry into the dynamics that play out in nature and how it also reflects in human behaviour brought about a deepening perspective on the human disposition, and how everything is connected.
A four year study in archetypal astrology which emerges from its interweaving with depth psychology and transpersonal spirituality – together with C.G.Jung, an authentic pioneer in the development of a transpersonal perspective on the human psyche, further enriched this understanding. The objective was to facilitate one's psychological growth and individuating process; – realising the self beyond the ego-construct.
She completed an intensive study in Applied transformative psychology, a transformational course in consciousness, spirituality and transpersonal psychology which focuses on the concept of inner-development and the ways in which transpersonal, integrative, and spiritual perspectives can be applied in practice, considering personal and professional pathways.
In addition she specialised in the following modules; -
Creativity and Transformation which explores the nature of creativity and its relationship to human development and growth, as well as its relevance for social change. The evolving crises of our time call for inner and outer changes in our ways of being and doing.
Integrative medicine, recognising we are physical beings, but we are also spiritual beings and interconnected beings. This module explores the relationship between the mind-body-spirit paradigm and its implications for an integrative and holistic approach to wellness and healthcare.
A turning point for her was being introduced to the work of Eckhart Tolle, and subsequent discovery of Francis Lucille and Rupert Spira, teachers in the Advaita Vedanta or non-dual tradition. It confirmed her childhood intuition, of our true and shared reality is infinite eternal and universal — an awakened state of consciousness that transcends the separate self and discursive thinking.
Over sixteen years through the readings of J.Krishnamurti, Ramana Maharshi, Atmananda Krishna Menon, Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj, Lao Tse amongst others, she continued to grow into an experiential understanding of the non-dual perspective as a way of living, of Being in this world.
Throughout this period, her teachers Francis and Rupert played a crucial role in this deepening process and understanding of the nature of reality, – the I AM that shines in each one of us is infinite pure consciousness or aware being, and the body/mind experience is its activity.
At last the apparent human role in the divine play came into perspective for her, and carries exquisite meaning of non-separation. It's a self-realisation process that ends up in the experience of our natural state in it's total freedom and autonomy. A revelation of absolute splendour, of absolute love and intelligence.
